White Announces $26 Million for Sewer, Water Projects in
Venango, Warren, Butler Counties
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21) today announced the approval of
$26 million in state assistance to help pay for sewer and water improvement
projects in Venango, Warren and Butler counties.
White said the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, PENNVEST,
approved the following projects:
- Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc., Emlenton, Venango County --
$3.1 million grant to improve an aging water system with numerous
violations, including cryptosporidium in finished water. The project
includes constructing a 288,000-gallon-per-day treatment plant,
modifications to the existing reservoir and additional pumping to serve high
and low pressure areas.
- Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County -- $6.7 million
grant to improve the wastewater collection system that becomes overloaded in
heavy rain, discharging raw sewage into the Allegheny River. The project
includes repairs of 64,300 feet of sliplining and sewer collection system
points, new sewer laterals and new manholes.
- Sugar Grove Area Sewer Authority, Warren County -- $2
million loan and $1 million grant to extend public sewer to an area of the
township where private water wells test positive for contamination. The
project includes construction of 78,000 feet of sewer mains and two
collection system pump stations.
- Butler Area Sewer Authority, Butler County -- $13
million loan to improve the sewer conveyance system, which becomes
overloaded in wet weather, discharging raw sewage into public areas.
The project includes the construction of five surge tanks with a capacity of
16 million gallons, three new pumping stations and 5,200 feet of collection
piping.
PENNVEST makes grants and low-interest loans available to communities to help
pay for drinking water, wastewater and stormwater projects.
